Loving Grandad Makes the Most Magical Bed for Grandson with Autism

Take a look at the work of one loving grandad, who made the most magical bed for his grandson with autism. His creation is beautiful and, certainly, a family treasure!

The Reddit user gives a tour of the room he lovingly built and equipped to provide a safe and comforting space for his autistic grandson. He comments in his post, “So some kids with autism and other conditions need a safety bed to keep them contained and safe. I built this one for my grandson.”

His grandson’s is a Winnie-the-Pooh paradise that acts as a room within a room. The gentleman leads viewers into the large room where we see a painted door. The words “Mr. Sanders” are written in the childlike font we recognize, and Pooh’s friends, Eeyore, Tigger, and Piglet are standing outside. It is adorable!

Green moveable steps are stationed at the door within a door. A small door is built inside a very large one. The green steps lead to the smaller one, which, when used, allows his grandson to plunk right down onto the cozy mattress for a tighter, closed space. Or, the large door can be opened to enjoy the full room.

The bed, placed on wheels, rolls easily out of Pooh’s treehouse, as needed. And, it tucks perfectly back inside Pooh’s cabin. With the large door closed, the sweet space has murals all around. There is a headboard on the appropriate wall, a kitchen scene painted on the inside of the entry door, and a window with a grassy view on the back wall. Honey pots and a pooh-koo clock decorate the room. It truly is a serene and delightful room!

Not only does the project provide wonderful function and a soothing environment, it was built with all safety considerations in mind. The Reddittor researched and consulted with the local fire department during the building process. He installed multiple fire detection systems, CO2 monitoring, alarms, temperature monitoring, and cameras to ensure his grandson’s safety. Grandad’s finished product meets all governmental and bedding standards!

In a 2018 review, the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network found that 1 in 44 children born in 2010 were identified as autistic or having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Individuals with ASD vary greatly with reference to: 1) the support and accommodations needed, 2) their strengths and abilities, 3) their challenges, 4) the way in which they feel the world and process information, and 5) their special interests.

Understanding and appreciating the diverse experiences, needs, and personalities of those with ASD is critical, and this Reddit grandfather has embraced that truth completely! He’s a great grandad, and his grandchild is one blessed kid!

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1

'The Sound of Silence by Young Violinist Karolina Protsenko

This sweet little girl has taken the internet by storm with her God-given musical talent. ‘The Sound of Silence by young violinist Karolina Prosekno is a moment you don’t want to miss. Karolina plays the violin in the same way as we breathe. It’s a breath of fresh air that will bring you incredible joy.

Little miss Karolina has been playing the violin since the tender age of six years old. She is from Ukraine and is a child prodigy of music. God has blessed this sweet little child with the gift of music and she truly is taking the world by storm. Her YouTube channel states “She is a phenomenal violin prodigy. Karolina plays violin with passion and her smile is contagious. Her music will make you feel better from the very first chord.”

This sweet child was born in war-torn Ukraine, and Karolina’s parents brought her to the United States in 2015 so she could be classically trained in the violin. She then began busking in 2017 on the streets of California

We couldn’t agree more. And if you're a little skeptical, this video will prove it. She plays ‘The Sound of Silence’ with grace, poise, and ease despite playing on a busy city street. Dressed in a fluffy white coat that covers a deep red crimson dress, she hugs her violin as if it were the sunshine or the air we breathe. The way she plays the violin is as if there is nothing sweeter or more precious in the world. The best part is the way the notes sing in the air. It’s proof of just how blessed and talented this sweet child is. I do believe Simon and Garfunkel would give her a round of applause.

Karolina practices the violin two to three hours a day and yearns to be a well-known violinist who can play pop songs by ear. She played more than 200 cover songs in the past year. And it's no wonder why she does it. Karolina truly embodies the God-given gift of music. What are your thoughts? We hope you adore this sweet child’s gift and thank God for Karolina’s God-given talents.

Discover Town That Is World Capital of Accordions

Check out this video and discover the town in Italy that is the world capital of accordions.

Castelfidardo, a town in Italy’s Marque region, became the accordion manufacturing hub for the world. It is also home to the first accordion factory ever. As you walk the cobblestone streets, you will hear music from accordions fill the air.

Renowned accordionist Simone Zanchini hosts his jazz festival in Castelfidardo, and it is where he buys all his accordions as well. He says that he will not go anywhere else for the instruments because “the quality is not comparable.”

Many of Simone Zanchini’s first memories include accordions. But he likes to use the instrument to innovate accordion music, rather than play the traditional folk music.

“It is not my favorite,” says Simone of traditional accordion folk music. I did enough when I was younger. I have nothing to discover there.” Simon prefers to push musical boundaries with the accordion. “Then it becomes interesting to me,” he says.

When it comes to the history of accordions, Italians helped introduce the instrument to America in the 1800s and later to Vaudeville. And The Lawrence Welk Show brought accordion music into American homes every week.

Back in the 1950s, Castelfidardo produced the majority of accordions sold in America, around 200,000 of the instruments. But around the 1960s, Rock and Roll became popular and the accordion was squeezed out, making way for the guitar to rise in popularity. But in Castelfidardo, the accordion is still in demand and has not left the hearts of the people there. It is a part of their beautiful culture that will remain of high importance.

We hope that you enjoyed learning a bit about the accordion’s history today from watching this video and hearing about the beautiful town that is responsible for making so many of these instruments and sharing them with the world.

Stranded Dog Rescued from Snowy Mountainside

Anyone who has ever had a pet understands how they quickly become a member of the family and how the loss of a pet can be soul-crushing. One family in Utah was reunited with their four-legged and furry family member after what was nearly a devastating situation.

On Christmas Eve, Nala, a black dog, joined her owner during a hike up a mountain in Utah. At some point during the trek, Nala and her owner became separated from one another, according to the video

The beloved pet found herself stranded in unfamiliar territory, having to fend for herself among the cold conditions and the snow-covered terrain.

Racing against the clock, search and rescue teams deployed a piece of modern technology to aid in the hunt for Nala. They used a drone to search the landscape for the dog.

Fortunately, the team was successful in their efforts and found the animal.

As the video points out, Nala was not in too bad of shape, given her circumstances. She had sustained only minor injuries and was, of course, cold. Nala was found in good enough shape that she was able to make the trip  down the mountain alongside the search and rescue team.

But the story does not end there!

The video concludes by showing Nala being reunited with her family on Christmas.

While this section of the video is a tad bit dark, Nala is a happy bundle of energy. She can be seen greeting her family with her tail wagging at an extremely rapid pace. At one point, the dog appears to try and jump into the arms of her owners.

Being reunited with a beloved pet on Christmas Day? You would be hard-pressed to come up with a better gift!

Grateful Hiker Rescued After 200-Foot Fall from Icy Cliff

Miracles can come in big and small varieties. One woman in California recently experienced a miracle that was rather massive in size.

Ruth Woroniecki is thanking God for saving her life after she survived a nearly 200-foot fall down a mountain in Southern California on Christmas Eve, according to KCBS.

On the day before Christmas, Ruth went out climbing near the Cucamonga Peak in San Bernardino County, California. But her hike did not go as planned.

While Ruth did make it to the mountain's peak, it was during her descent down the mountain that she slipped on ice and took an immense tumble, the sheriff’s department said.

“She initially slid feet first and then she hit her head on a log and she went unconscious. She woke up to another hiker helping her out,” Deputy Doug Brimmer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said

That fellow hiker was able to send Ruth’s exact GPS coordinates to the authorities and first responders who rescued her and got her to safety.

As to be expected, Ruth’s injuries were pretty extensive. She suffered a massive head injury and also broke her neck in two different places.

As she continues to recover, Ruth, in a message from her mother, thanked those first responders as well as the hiker who rescued her for their efforts.

In that very same message, Ruth also shared some words of advice for anyone who happens to find themselves in a difficult situation: call out to Jesus Christ.

“I know that God is such a good Father that he has a plan through the pain. And to anyone else who is suffering call out to Jesus and he will help you,” the statement read

Mark 10:27  “And Jesus looking on them said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

Bullied Boy with Autism Surprised After Internet Responds with Kindness

The world can be and often is a cold, lonely and dark place. A bullied teenager with Autism experienced some of the good that does exist in our world.

Carson Thomson, 13, who has Autism, was accosted and beaten up by a couple of bullies after exiting the school bus. Carson suffered a broken arm as a result of the assault.

The offense Carson committed that brought about such treatment? Carson was chewing gum, blew a bubble and it popped all over his face, according to CBSNews

After learning about the incident that left Carson with a broken arm and hurt feelings, reporter David Begnaud put the word out on social media looking for video game companies to help show Carson kindness and compassion.

“The world can be an incredibly generous place. I put out a call on social media, looking for video game designers who jumped in quickly to help us make Carson feel special,” David said.

David, Carson’s mother and the team at Six Foot Studios worked together to surprise the teen with an up-close look at how video games are put together.

Carson, as the video shows, is all about video games. When he’s not in his room playing them, he’s walking around thinking through a storyline for a potential game. Young Carson hopes to create them when he grows up.

“Video games are the highest form of art. You got art and music. In the future, I want to make games. Like, I’ve got a lot of ideas,” Carson said.

On the day of his surprise visit to Six Foot Studios in Austin, Texas, checked out the studio, interacted with the staff and even played around with some of the studio’s design equipment.

To say Carson was floored and motivated by the surprise, would be an understatement.

“Today was awesome. I’m pretty inspired. I think that I am going to make the best game ever created,” Carson said

Visually Impaired Singer, Shaka, Didn’t Even Realize Judge Had Turned Until Song’s End

Whatever we do in life, obstacles will stand in our way. One contestant on a recent episode of The Voice UK didn’t let a physical disability stop her from going after her musical dream.

During the blind audition portion of the program, Shaka,27, turned in a powerhouse performance, thrilling the audience and impressing the judges in the process. It was mere seconds into the song when singer and judge Olly Murs decided he had heard enough and knew he wanted her on his team.

However, Shaka, at the 12:25-minute mark in the video, said she had no idea he’d turned around because she couldn’t see a thing on stage.

"During the blinds, I had no idea that anyone had turned until the end. With my visual impairment, I couldn’t see anything,” she said

Shaka’s father, Fitzroy, in an interview with the television program, explained his daughter’s condition.

“Shaka has a visual problem called congenital nystagmus and it’s where the eye, the pupil shakes. So, it doesn’t actually fix properly,” he said.

Fitzroy went on to explain that even though his daughter has a condition which makes sight difficult, she keeps on keeping on.

“It’s there. It’s something she has but you know what? It hasn’t really stopped her. She has done whatever she has put her heart towards,” he said

Shaka will not let her disability and the negativity of others keep her from doing what she loves.

“So, from when I was young they basically was like ‘you should really be performing, shouldn’t be around lights,”’ she said.

On the way to achieving her dream, Shaka found a workaround for her disability.

"So, I literally just kept performing and figuring out ways on how to work my way around a stage,” she said

3 Children Lost Both Parents Within Months, But Community ‘Swarmed In’

Amid tragic, devastating circumstances, one Midwestern family experienced an outpouring of love and support from people they didn’t know.

Three young children in the St. Louis area lost their father after he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Unfortunately, for Jane, Max and Henry, they suffered another catastrophic blow. Their mother – Megan – also passed away just 4 months after the death of their father.

“She just died suddenly. She was sitting on the couch with her brother-in-law and all the kids were playing upstairs and she just took her last breath and died,” Megan’s twin sister, Krista Lieber, said.

Megan passed away due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

Left without a mother and a father, Jane, Max and Henry were taken in by their aunt Krista and her husband, Dave, who already had three children.

But the displays of love and support shown to Jane, Max and Henry did not stop there. Krista and Dave were “swarmed” by a community of random strangers, asking how they could lend a hand.

“Some people would do something as small as help with the cat. Other people donated lots of money. There was nothing too small and nothing too big and it all added together to, like, this unified front of stability for the kids,” Dave told CBSNews.

Due to those unyielding displays of love, kindness and affection, the children were able to find and experience happiness once again.

Clips and photos in the video show the children enjoying Thanksgiving together, playing and laughing, just acting as all children do.

“I love them. I love them so much. They are really resilient. They truly are, they’re Ok,” Krista said.

In addition to the bushels of kindness from total strangers, the good that came from this truly devastating situation does not end there. Krista and Dave were moved to see a doctor and decided to get some lingering medical issues checked out.

Krista, who had her own heart checked, learned she also has a condition.

“I have Long QT syndrome., which is, your heart has an electrical conductivity issue. It can cause sudden death, fainting, seizures. I told Dave, ‘I, my sister saved my life, you know?’ I say her death was not in vain. There’s a bigger picture here,” Krista said.

Recovering Police Officer Shot 8 Times Pins Badge on Brother Graduating Firefighter Training

Paul, in a letter to Timothy, writes in 2 Timothy 4:7 that “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” One clip making the rounds on social media is a perfect example of the determination, perseverance and love that Paul mentions in his letter to Timothy.

During a recent graduation ceremony in Phoenix, Arizona, one brother –Tyler Moldovan, an officer with the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department – had the honor of pinning the badge on his brother – Matt Moldovan – as he graduated from firefighter training. The Phoenix Arizona Fire Department captured the special moment between the two siblings as they shook hands, hugged and shed a few tears, as can be seen in the video.

However, what truly makes this moment special is that Tyler, who is in a wheelchair in the clip, was critically injured after being shot while on duty late last year, and was in attendance even after doctors' bleak prognosis. After being shot close to 10 times, including once in the head, Tyler was on life support for approximately a month following the shooting.

In a Facebook post from the Phoenix Police Department, on the anniversary of the shooting, police wrote that medical professionals said at the time Tyler’s injuries were “not survivable” but that despite the initial dreadful prognosis, “he is making incredible progress.”

A Facebook page dedicated to sharing updates about Tyler’s recovery from his devasting injuries showcases his rehabilitation journey. Videos showing Tyler learning to walk again, photos of Tyler and his wife, Chelsea, and posts for prayer requests pepper the page’s wall.

The page’s most recent post reminds everyone to remember the true reason for the Christmas season and also includes that “whether in the hospital room or in our living room, we will sing praise and rejoice in the Lord.”

2 Chronicles 15:7 “Be you strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.”

90-Year-Old Man Reunited with Family After Being Left as Baby

One 90-year-old man was reunited with his family after being left as a baby, and his inspiring story will warm your heart.

Jim Scott grew up in the 1930s depression era in Pittsburgh, and he always wondered about his biological parents. When he saw his birth certificate for the first time, it read that his parents were unknown.

“Who are my parents? Do I have brothers and sisters?” Jim would ask.

Jim’s daughter, Marylin, made it her mission to help her dad figure out the mystery of his family. “I was like, ‘Okay, Dad. Let’s do it.’ I ordered DNA tests and we got started,” Marylin shared.

Then Marylin went on ancestry.com and was able to uncover her father’s story. When he was less than two weeks old, Jim was left on a stranger’s doorstep inside of a box.

“12 days old, just wrapped in a blanket,” shared Marylin. “He was named after the two policemen that found him.”

Marylin was also able to track down 45 blood relatives of Jim, including his biological nephew, George.

“For all of us, we were trying to put this puzzle together,” George said.

Jim even discovered he had a long-lost little brother named Felix. And when the pair found out that they were related, 86-year-old Felix made the trip from Pittsburgh to Jim’s house in Philadelphia for a family reunion.

“I’m his younger brother, okay? And we just found out when I turned 86,” said Felix. “So, Jim owes me 86 Christmas gifts.” It is lovely to see these two brothers joking around and having a comfortable relationship with each other after just meeting for the first time.

What a sweet conclusion to this story! And Jim must feel so overwhelmed to finally know about his family. May these new-found bonds continue to grow through the years.

90-Year-Old Great Grandma Inspires by Graduating College

One 90-year-old great grandma inspires many by going after her goal of graduating college.

Joyce DeFauw recently achieved one of her life goals – to graduate college. At 90 years old, Joyce proudly walked across the stage at Northern Illinois University’s commencement ceremony while she wore a cap and gown and received her bachelor’s degree in general studies.

It was more than 70 years ago when Joyce left college to start a family. Since then, her family has grown to include 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren! And a few years ago, when she mentioned to her family that she regretted not getting her college degree, her big family encouraged her to go back to school and follow her dream. And many of those family members were there to cheer her on when she walked across that stage and achieved her goal.

Just a few years ago, Joyce got her first computer in order to take online classes. And after a few years of studying and putting in the work, Joyce proudly graduated college with the degree that she always wanted. What an incredible accomplishment! And Joyce’s actions just go to show us all that it is never too late to go after your goals. If God puts a dream on your heart, go after it!

How heartwarming it must have been for Joyce’s family members to see her cross that stage at the graduation ceremony with so much pride and excitement. We hope that this inspirational story of Joyce going after her dream at 90 years old was able to bring some joy to your day.

Mom Prayed Before Entering Mall The Day A Stranger Threw Her Son Off Balcony

After getting a weird feeling, one mom prayed for the safety of her and her son as she was entering a mall. And that prayer was answered when her son was completely healed after a stranger threw him off a balcony.

It was back in April 2019 when Kari Hoffmann was taking her 5-year-old son, Landon, to the Mall of America. It was a day that would change their lives forever.

As Kari entered the mall, she started to have this weird feeling, so she prayed a simple prayer. She prayed that God would protect her and her son. Shortly after, the scariest thing happened. A stranger grabbed Landon and threw him from a balcony at the mall.

“A stranger came up and was whispering to these two little boys. It happened in the blink of an eye. He snatched him and ran. And I was just frozen,” shared Kari. “It happened so fast. Then I screamed ‘No!’ after he was already thrown.”

Kari immediately ran down to Landon, and once emergency responders reached the scene, the little boy was rushed to the pediatric ICU. He had 2 broken arms, a broken leg, facial fractures, and a brain injury.

That’s when Kari prayed to God for “complete healing and restoration.”

“We’re walking out of here. We’re not going to leave here in a wheelchair,” Kari said. “He caught himself. That’s why his arms were broken and his nose was smooshed. And I believe that angels caught him, because I prayed for angels coming in there.”

After 4 months in the hospital, Landon was able to go home. Three years later, he is now completely healed and enjoying his life as an active 8-year-old.

“I’m so thankful for breath, for life, for heartbeats. It’s just…you take those things for granted until they almost get taken away from you,” said Kari.

Praise the Lord for the miracle of Landon’s life and the way that He answered Kari’s prayers.
