Acts 8:7-23

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city. 9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: 10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

Welcome to the Kingdom of God!

The Daily Pulse (Saturday, November 21, 2014): If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)

Why do I sometimes regret following God's will?

The Daily Pulse (Friday, November 21, 2014): Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 1 Peter 1:13-14 (NIV)

Ever Heard Anything About God That Makes Sense

Too much of what passes today as "Christian" doctrine, i.e., "The Bible says...", makes no sense. When an inquiring mind points that out, the answer too often is, "Take it on faith." Whoa! Biblically defined, "faith" is not superstition, i.e., believing nonsense, but is rational trust in an intelligible promise. And GOD is THE GOD of PROMISE.

Ouch! Am I being disciplined…or tested?

The Daily Pulse (Thursday, November 20, 2014): My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. Proverbs 3:11-12 (NIV)

An invitation for divorce?

The Daily Pulse (Wednesday, November 19, 2014): Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 3:19 (NIV)

In-between times: Are you trending up or down?

The Daily Pulse (Tuesday, November 18, 2014): When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future. Ecclesiastes 7:14 (NIV)

11-16-14 MESSAGE: "Turning The Tables On The Enemy!"

Borrowing from a YouTube video Pastor Charles watched earlier this week, a young elephant helps to illustrate the need for believers to step into their authority and employ the power God has given us rather than always trying to shake off and run from the enemy. A powerful, inspiring message that will encourage and empower you!

In-between times: Jesus' prayer model

The Daily Pulse (Monday, November 17, 2014): But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16 (NIV)

In-between times: Daniel's faithfulness

The Daily Pulse (Sunday, November 16, 2014): Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10 (NIV)

In-between times: King David's misstep

The Daily Pulse (Saturday, November 15, 2014): In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem. 2 Samuel 11:1 (NIV)

Entrusted With The Gospel

Did you know that it is possible to teach the truth of God's Word and do so for the wrong motives? If God had to choose, He'd rather have a sleazeball teaching truth than an upright man teaching error about His Word? Why? Because all the hearers could benefit from the former, but not the latter. Of course what God really wants is for an upright man to teach truth. The two sections from Philippians and Thessalonians covered in this teaching are inspiring.

The Elijah Progression, pt. 3: Questioning God

The Daily Pulse (Wednesday, November 12, 2014): He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty.
