Have you ever felt like God was telling you to do something but then began to question it when you hit a road block? How do you respond when your first attempt fails or everything seems to just get worse? Have you ever known God was in it, but still wonder if you have the strength to make it to the other side? Do you want to quit when everything is hard even though you know there is a reward waiting for you if you make it through? Is it worth the bad to get to the good? God sent Moses to Pharaoh with a promise that he would deliver the people from Egypt. But when everything got worse instead of better, Moses questioned God. Why did you send me if it was only going to bring trouble on the people? Everything is worse than before and You have not delivered Your people as you said. God fulfills His promises. His time & ways are different but they are right. He can strengthen and equip us to make it through. There is great reward on the other side of our struggles. In this children's message, children will be reminded that God is always worthy of our trust, and that we can put our faith in Him. We might sometimes need to be patient or not always get the answers we want, but we know He is taking care of us, just like Jesus took care of those around Him.

Main Objective: The story of Jesus and the Canaanite woman can seem odd, as it appears that He ignores her request at first. In the end, we understand how she recognized how powerful Jesus was, and that she was willing to take risks and persist in her efforts because she believed in His ability. The miracle Jesus performed in this lesson, and how it came about, reminds children that sometimes God asks us to be patient, and might seem to be far away. But He is always listening and ready to give us what we truly need.
Law/Gospel Theme: Whenever we share messages focused on faith, it’s important to remind students that faith is not about us, but about who we are trusting. Yes, this woman was persistent in asking Jesus for help. But it was not her persistence or her own merit that caused the healing of her daughter. That came about through Christ’s help. We are all sinful creatures, but Jesus died for all of us, and wants us to come to Him with our needs.
Optional Materials: Bag with “treat-like” items inside (small toys, candies, etc.) or other small prizes; blindfold (optional).

God is our only worthy Master. All other masters only add to our burdens requiring more work. God gives us rest & does the rest Himself. The focus is not on the results but on Him. By spending time with Him, we become more like Him, & that enables us for service to Him. When Moses told Pharaoh that their God commanded them to go feast with Him, Pharaoh put himself in opposition to God as the one they should obey & fear.
