One of the oldest questions to come to the mind of mankind is “Why do bad things happen to good people?” The Book of Job is believed to be the oldest book of the Bible. This question is raised in that book. Job’s friends seemed to be of the opinion that bad things do not happen to good people; therefore, they proceeded to accuse Job of doing very bad things. They told Job that the things that he was experiencing were the judgment of God because of his sins. But, of course, we who have read the Book of Job know they were wrong as are the majority of people today.
The Introduction to an insightful series of why bad things come the way of the child of God and ways to handle them. Series presented by the Producer and Director of International Missionary Baptist Ministries, Joseph F. Roberts, ThD, PhD.
Have you ever heard someone say, about someone else, “He is a man of faith,” or “She is a woman of faith.”? The truth is, we are all people of faith, because whether we realize it or not, we exercise faith every single day of our lives. Therefore, the valid question, "What is faith?"
In this message by Dr. Joseph F. Roberts, the Director and Chief Producer of the International Missionary Baptist Ministries, he explains what faith really is and how we exercise it.
After Isaac is born, Sarah no longer wants Ishmael around. God reassures Abraham that He will care for Ishmael, but he does need to be sent away. We look at the symbolism behind Ishmael and Isaac. One son being born of the plans of Abraham and Sarah to a slave woman, forever symbolizing slavery to the law that must be cast away to make way for the promised son born in freedom forever symbolizing the inheritance found through freeing grace. Also, the difference between our feelings and actions when we are in control of our circumstances and when they are forced upon us and how we should react so that we do not become permanent victims. With God's help, we can persevere!
This was a dark day; a dank day; a dastardly day; it was earth and the human races worst day. A day where all of man's violence; centuries of murder; hatred; jealousy and rage came together; years of wickedness and terrifying violence came to a final crescendo- man's final opus; kill the God of heaven in the worst and most painful way man could devise.
